  1. Clone the repository:

Azure Cognitive Services Speech SDK Setup Guide

Newer versions of the Azure Cognitive Services Speech SDK may have conflicts with SSL and Python libraries. To create an environment without these conflicts, it is recommended to use a virtual environment, such as Conda. Follow the setup instructions below to create and configure your Conda environment.

Prerequisites

Ensure you have Conda installed. You can download and install it from: Anaconda or, Miniconda.

Setup Instructions

Recreating the Environment from YAML

To recreate the environment from the environment.yaml file:

conda env create -f environment.yaml

Activate the new environment:

conda activate azure_speech_env

Environment Variables

Set the environment variables for your Azure Cognitive Services subscription key and region. You can do this in your terminal or within your script.

Setting Environment Variables in Terminal

export SPEECH_KEY='your_subscription_key'
export SPEECH_REGION='your_region'

Using this Speech SDK

To use this SDK, you'll make your changes to the tts.py file. Enter the text you wish to convert to speech in the multi-line string corresponding to "TEXT_INPUT". You'll also want to increase the filename when you are satisfied with the audio and ready to move onto creating the next element in your TTS.

For Batch Reprocessing

To re-process the text files found in text, either in another language or using a different voice, please run 'voice_convert.py' rather than tts.py
