There is an unexplored niche in the Indic language digital landscape:
- google translate is good for translation between Indic languages
- google input tools is good for transliteration for the user.
- The fantastic aksharamukha helps to render any Indic language website accessible in any other Indic script.
But there is no way for a user to type/paste a piece of text in one Indic language and have it render in another. Who would want to use such a tool? Someone like me! I understand Tamizh, but I can’t read the Tamizh script. If only there was a simple way of rendering Tamizh text in Devanagari! Or my mother, who can’t read Kannada, but understands the langugage. What if she could simply read Kannada texts in Devanagari!
Current scripts are
- Devanagari
- Bengali
- Gurmukhi
- Gujarati
- Oriya
- Tamil
- Telugu
- Kannada
- Malayalam
