🚀 Boilerplate setup for React Native Apps using react, redux, sagas, hooks, storybook and much more

Primary LanguageTypeScript

Getting Started

Note: Make sure you have completed the React Native - Environment Setup instructions till "Creating a new application" step, before proceeding.

11/29/2023: As of this writing, this was developed on an M1 running Sonoma 14.1.1 (23B81) with the following versions:

  • Ruby v3.1.2
  • Node v18.17.0
  • NPM 9.6.7

If you are using nvm, then skip brew install node. If installing via M1 chip, see these SO discussions on common troubleshooting:

Step 1: Rename

Download react-native-rename and run

npx react-native-rename@latest "NewAppName"

Step 2: Start the Metro Server

First, you will need to start Metro, the JavaScript bundler that ships with React Native. To start Metro, run the following command:

yarn start

Step 3: Start your Application

Let Metro Bundler run in its own terminal. Open a new terminal from the root of your React Native project. Run the following command to start your Android or iOS app:

For Android

yarn android

For iOS

yarn ios

If everything is set up correctly, you should see the app running in your Android Emulator or iOS Simulator shortly provided you have set up your emulator/simulator correctly.

This is one way to run your app — you can also run it directly from within Android Studio and Xcode respectively.
