The app is built using the MERN stack, which includes Express, Node.js, and MongoDB.

How to Run the App

  1. Clone the repository to your local machine.

  2. Navigate to the parent-teacher-app-server directory.

  3. Install the dependencies using npm:

npm install
  1. Create a .env file in the root of the parent-teacher-app-server directory and add your MongoDB connection string:
MONGODB_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string_here
  1. Start the server:
npm start

The server will run on http://localhost:5000.

  1. Navigate to the parent-teacher-app directory (frontend).

  2. Install the dependencies using npm:

npm install
  1. Start the frontend development server:
npm start

The app will run on http://localhost:3000.

Usage

  1. Register as a parent or a teacher in the app.

  2. Log in with your credentials.

  3. Use the app to schedule parent-teacher meetings, send and receive secure messages, and receive notifications.

Folder Structure

  • parent-teacher-app-server: Contains the server-side code built with Node.js and Express.

  • parent-teacher-app: Contains the client-side code built with React.js.
