  • Geographic level: county

    • file name ending with: _all (all county)
    • file name ending with: _mc (main county)
    • file name ending with: _nmc (surrounding county)

  • Bartik instrument: local initial employment shares time with national industrial employment growth

    • Goldsmith-Pinkham (2020)

  • Decomposition:

    • Version 1: aggregate all industries;
    • Version 2: decompose industries into two categories;
    • Version 3: use each industry as a separate instrument

  • The data is constructed for Top 60 MSAs and I base on the delineation file which publlished in 1990.
