Inspiration

The inspiration behind Open Source Galaxy stemmed from a passion for fostering a thriving community of open-source enthusiasts and ensuring they stay informed about upcoming events.

What it does

Open Source Galaxy is a platform designed to keep open-source enthusiasts up-to-date with the latest event registration openings. Users can easily access information about upcoming events and ensure they never miss an opportunity to participate.

How I built it

I built Open Source Galaxy using modern web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Additionally, I utilized front-end framework technologies such as React.js, Auth0 to handle user authentication, Email.js for remainder notification, GoDaddy to buy a custom domain and Firebase for deployment.

Challenges I ran into

One of the main challenges I faced was implementing authentication and email notifications efficiently. I also encountered difficulties in designing an intuitive user interface that provides seamless navigation.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I am proud to have developed a functional platform that fulfills the needs of open-source enthusiasts. Additionally, I successfully implemented features such as event reminders and user authentication to enhance the user experience.

What I learned

Throughout the development process, I learned valuable lessons in frontend development and authentication, as well as effective project management. I also gained insights into the unique challenges of building a platform focused on community engagement.

What's next for Open Source Galaxy

In the future, I plan to expand the functionality of Open Source Galaxy by incorporating features such as community forums and personalized event recommendations. I also aim to enhance the platform's scalability and performance to accommodate a growing user base.
