What is the purpose of this repo?
=================================

The purpose of this repo is to provide a chef cookbook which will automate the installation process of CartoDB.

Requirements?
=============

This cookbook assumes that you are running Ubuntu on a clean new EC2 instance.  It should not be used on any server which has postgresql already installed as it will break the existing installation.

Chef - Tested on Chef 0.10

Platform

This Chef cookbook has been successfully tested on a “Small” Natty Narwhal Amazon EC2 instance built using the ami from Canonical.

What does this cookbook do?
========================

This cookbook will install the following packages:-

Ruby
Node
PostgresSQL
PostGIS
Redis
Mapnik
Nginx

What do I need to do after the install?
=======================================

After the install you will need to do the following:-

add

root /home/ubuntu/downloads/cartodb/public;
passenger_enabled on;
rails_env devlopement;

to the nginx.conf file

Add

<IP of EC2 instance> mysubdomain.localhost.lan

to the hostfile on your local computer.



Open a browser and go to http://mysubdomain.localhost.lan and login with the user you created.
