Crowdsourced Natural History Collections and Herbarium Data [subtitle]

Curation of natural history collections and herbaria has traditionally enlisted networks of taxonomic experts and enthusiatic volunteers to improve these unique biological and cultural resources. We extend this tradition to digital curation, presenting crowdsourcing projects in which you and other volunteers assist ongoing collections-based research by completing series of discrete digitization tasks.

The objective of the current BioAtlas Crowdsourcing projects is to ultimately assign coordinates to transcribed localities, which is a long-standing challenge in modern collections digitization. Your contributions will be applied directly towards establishing fundamental data interpretations. These are essential in Swedish fungi biodiversity research, including historical and cultural perspectives.

BioAtlas Crowdsourcing projects feature BioAtlas datasets, which include a broad range of biodiversity data from collections and inventories to observation and monitoring systems or programmes.
