About The Project

The application was created by Piotr Michalak, Angelina Patsili, Olga Carmen-Steau and Fotis Kioutsioukis as a part of study project at Aalborg University in Copenhagen. The main aim of the project was to create a Web-GIS application with built-in multi-criteria decision system support for offshore wind farm industry. The result of our work was the fully functional Web-GIS application that allows the user to search for places with the highest suitability for potential offshore investments on the Baltic Sea.

Getting Started

To get a local copy use the following git command:

git clone https://github.com/Piotr296/BalticOffshorePotential.git

Usage

The tool has been examined and indicates the same areas as are considered by the governments of countries such as Poland, Sweden or Finland. Baltic Offshore Potential can help identify the most suitable places to establish the new offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea with respective accuracy. Our product aims to reduce the time needed to search for new areas for wind farms, indicating areas with the greatest potential, which however, should be supported by detailed geotechnical and environmental research.
