A Simple Roguelike Game

To Run

  1. Make sure you have the most recent version of Python

  2. Download the most recent version of TCOD

  3. Navigate to /Roguelike/ folder using your terminal or command prompt

  4. Run the file by entering py main.py

How to play

  1. To see what an object on the screen is:

    • Hover over item with your mouse cursor
  2. To move:

    • Numpad (8, 2, 4, 6 for up, down, left, right and 7, 9, 1, 3 for up-left, up-right, down-left, down-right)
    • Arrow keys (with Home, Page Up, End, Page Down for up-left, up-right, down-left, down-right)
    • Vim keys for nerds (j, k, h, l for up, down, left, right and y, u, b, n for up-left, up-right, down-left, down-right)
  3. To stand still:

    • Numpad (5)
    • Arrow keys (Clear)
    • Vim (.)
  4. To attack:

    • Move into enemies to melee attack
    • Use item (see below) to fire scrolls.
  5. To pickup items:

    • While over item, press g
  6. To use items:

    • See inventory with i, select item using indexed letter
  7. To drop items:

    • Press d, select item using indexed letter
  8. To view message log:

    • Press v
  9. To exit at any time:

    • Press Esc
