Release archives does not contain git submodule links

Hi,
Released archives (inside releases page) don't have any .git directories.
Thus make submodules command does nothing to them!
Do we always need to clone master branch?

Probably yes. Please note that the .tar.gz release archives are generated by GitHub, not by me.
