About OpenFOAM

OpenFOAM is a free, open source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software package released by the OpenFOAM Foundation. It has a large user base across most areas of engineering and science, from both commercial and academic organisations. OpenFOAM has an extensive range of features to solve anything from complex fluid flows involving chemical reactions, turbulence and heat transfer, to solid dynamics and electromagnetics.

OpenQBMM Developments on quadrature-based moment methods

This repository contains developments originated from the OpenQBMM project, contributed by Prof. Alberto Passalacqua, Prof. Rodney O. Fox and Dr. Simanta Mitra at Iowa State University. These contributions are being evaluated and not yet included the main OpenFOAM-dev repository.

This work includes the implementation of quadrature-based moment methods for the solution of generalized population balance equations, including the traditional quadrature method of moments and the extended quadrature method of moments for univariate problems. The conditional quadrature method of moments and its hyperbolic version are also available for multivariate problems.

The development of the OpenQBMM solver suite is sponsored by the National Science Foundation of the United States, under the SI2 – SSE award NSF – ACI 1440443.
