dotfiles

It's my dot files. Drop them into a home directory and enjoy. I try to make them work consistently across my Mac, Windows/Cygwin, and CentOS boxes. Generally, I've tested on those 3 platforms.

bash

  1. defines a custom prompt that I like
  2. disables ^D exit so that I don't exit accidentally from a fat finger
  3. alias common commands to use the options I like
  4. several platform-specific hacks to try to make things as consistent as possible across different machines
  5. prompt shows source control system and branch of current directory if applicable

emacs

  1. lots of random tweaks (easier to just read comments in .emacs)

ssh

  1. uses ServerAliveInterval to keep a dormant ssh connection alive
  2. maps server-specific keys for a few hosts

vim

  1. totally stole this .vimrc from the web, not sure of the features
