Checkbox background issues on Windows

Checkboxes have a gray background by default, which mucks up the look and feel on the login page. Changing them to a white background messes up the look and feel in certain dialogs that have a gray background.

To do: sort through these visual quirks by setting appropriate keys in UIManager
