add awesome list page

Providing a list of projects that demonstrate best practice for community engagement. This will give readers some "case studies" for comparison.

One example that was shown (maybe not right link..?) was for scikit-learn

Hi @GavinHuttley - thanks for the issue and for the comment. We have given this a lot of thought and we feel like we are not quite ready to do this yet for a couple of reasons. One, it may seem like we are only endorsing the projects on that list and it may be excluding other awesome communities 😄 Two, and this is the main point: we can point to specific items and initiatives, but not a project that has it all. My suggestion would be to reduce the scope on this a little bit - say, cite best practices for specific initiatives, but not the entire project.

We'd be super happy to hear your thoughts on this! (and anyone else who would also like to discuss this). Thanks!

Hi @melissawm,

Happy new year!

I understand your point.

Perhaps one solution to this is to create an "awesome list" which could have sections in it. Seed it with a few projects that do some of the things well and solicit PR's for other projects to be added to the list.
