Research Question: Why would a reckless driver get a warning instead of a citation?
Government data set on traffic violations in the state of Maryland.
1,069,311 total traffic violations.
94,702 total "reckless" traffic violations.
Reckless traffic violations were characterized by at least one of the following:
- The driver was involved in an accident.
- The driver contributed to an accident.
- The driver damaged property with his/her vehicle.
- The driver was under the influence of alcohol.
All traffic violations took place between 2012 and 2017.
