convert a password gorilla container to a pass repository. ("Not sophisticated. To be on the safe side, please use the recommended version http://git.zx2c4.com/password-store/tree/contrib/importers/gorilla2pass.rb".) Bug reports are welcome.
##Getting started:
First thing to do is to export the password gorilla container to an csv file.
Initialise pass as usual:
pass init user@mydomain.com
then run the script:
./gorilla2pass.sh ex.csv
shred -u ex.csv
##Recommended
Do not store any password unencrypted on your hard drive. Use some ramdisk:
sudo mkdir /mnt/ramdisk
sudo mount -t tmpfs -o size=1m tmpfs /mnt/ramdisk
#set restrictive umask
umask 077
#Use password-gorilla to export
#passwords to /mnt/ramdisk.
#Then call the script to migrate to pass:
./gorilla2pass.sh /mnt/ramdisk/ex.csv
Delete the csv file:
sudo rm /mnt/ramdisk/ex.csv
sudo umount /mnt/ramdisk
##Organisation
gorilla2pass.sh is appending the title
as subdirectory. Assuming that the title
is containing the url e.G. github.com
, then the output would look something like this:
├── email
│ ├── google.com
│ │ ├── user1@gmail.com
│ │ └── spaminside@gmail.com
│ └── mydomain.com
│ └── foo
├── github.com
│ └── nickname
├── openstreetmap.org
│ └── user@gmail.com
├── ssh
│ ├── mydomain.de
│ │ ├── user1
│ │ └── user2
│ └── github.com
│ └── user1
[..]
My favorite organisation : Parent dir holding the url. Username containing the password.
Any information stored as notes
is added as multiline password:
- first line = password,
- underneath = notes.
##Configuration
To change the organisation structure a bit, the following flags can be modified:
#User is used as leaf containting the password
leafUser="TRUE"
#Append URL to multiline password
multilineURL="FALSE"
#Append notes to multiline password
multilineNOTES="TRUE"
#Add an own entry url
entryURL="FALSE"
