Split schemas by trialized vs. event-related experiments?

The current draft splits trialized and event-related experiments. trial would be activated if all events are tied to specific trials. event whould be activated if events occur independently of trials. The only difference is whether or not the schema.Event table inherits from a parallel Trial table or an upstream Session table.
Are there alternate conceptualizations of how schemas should be split?
