Consider HackMD over etherpad for persistent notes

https://hackmd.io/ uses GitHub as a backend. This might make archiving conversations and/or adding useful metadata/corrections easier.
It's unclear to me how heavy of a lift this would be.
We could let the presenter override the default "note" URL with hackmd.io, githut page, just a static webpage? If they don't specify, then we can leave it to etherpad as etherpad.wikimedia.org can setup a new page on-the-fly?
That would be a good way to test out alternatives before committing to a change.
Target use case?: If we could overlay notes on top of https://github.com/datalad-datasets/ohbm2020-posters-pdfs - where each poster has .pdf and -notes.txt -- would be awesome. I would not make people manage their own git repos.
