Would it be possible to move to python3? What tools require python2.7?

Hi Erik,
These tools haven't been maintained in years. If VG needs them, probably
best to fork into a CGL-owned repo and go from there.

MAF is the only creature in the uncanny valley between genome graphs and
MSAs.
Are there really just a handful of people using MAF?

People build UCSC browser hubs and some tools, like PhyloCSF, use it.
so I don't know how many, but more than either genome graphs or HAL ;-)
