You can set the default terminal by changing the alternative for x-terminal-emulator. Installing gnome-terminal creates an alternative symlink so all you have to do is set it.
sudo update-alternatives --set x-terminal-emulator /usr/bin/gnome-terminal.wrapper
Edit: It seems like the shortcut implementation is not using the alternative, but rather a gsettings configuration. It's still a good idea to set the alternative symlink above, however, to use the keyboard shortcut some gsettings properties will need to be modified. Use dconf-editor (sudo apt-get install dconf-editor) or gsettings to change the default terminal application to gnome-terminal. You will need to modify the exec and exec-arg properties in the org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.terminal schema.
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec gnome-terminal
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec-arg ''

https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install-tweak-tool-on-ubuntu-20-04-lts-focal-fossa-linux
The first step is to make sure that we have the universe repository enabled on our Ubuntu system: $ sudo add-apt-repository universe Once ready, execute the following command to install Tweak Tool on your Ubuntu 20.04 system: $ sudo apt install gnome-tweak-tool Use activities and search for tweak keyword to start the Tweak Tool. Alternatively, execute the bellow command: $ gnome-tweaks ( optional ) You may now install additional extensions to further tweak your system. Search for available gnome shell extensions: $ apt search gnome-shell-extension Next, either install only selected extensions for example: $ sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect or install all extensions: $ sudo apt install $(apt search gnome-shell-extension | grep ^gnome | cut -d / -f1)
ref: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AppleKeyboard#Change_Function_Key_behavior
This section of the document describe how to change the behavior of 'fn' key to better match what user expect. (See #201711, #162083) Here a description of each behavior : 0 = disabled : Disable the 'fn' key. Pressing 'fn'+'F8' will behave like you only press 'F8' 1 = fkeyslast : Function keys are used as last key. Pressing 'F8' key will act as a special key. Pressing 'fn'+'F8' will behave like a F8. 2 = fkeysfirst : Function keys are used as first key. Pressing 'F8' key will behave like a F8. Pressing 'fn'+'F8' will act as special key (play/pause)
- Switch to "Windows/Android"
$ echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/module/hid_apple/parameters/fnmode
- Switch to "iOS"
$ echo 2 | sudo tee /sys/module/hid_apple/parameters/fnmode
You can also change your driver settings to make this change permanent, like so:
echo options hid_apple fnmode=0 | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/hid_apple.conf
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
