Images temporarily resizing when scrolling on a mobile device

It looks like a heartbeat: image gets horizontally shrunk for a moment and then expanded back to its original aspect ratio. Happens with sidebar image and banner type sections.

Also happens vertically, depending on the original image orientation.

This can also be observed on droopler.pl.

Wasn't able to reproduce on a laptop though, using Samsung Galaxy and Firefox but this is the first time I encountered this issue.
