ox-shapelesshtml is an HTML export backend for org mode in Emacs.
It was based on ox-slimhtml, which solves a lot of issues in the
default org HTML export backend, the generated HTML file is a lot more
minimal. ox-shapelesshtml provides some extra features for my
personal needs, especially in blogging.
- No extra newline character in paragraph for Asian languages, which turns into a space when rendered in browser.
- Support for quote block.
However, the original ox-slimhtml was abandoned by its author. If you visit the github page of the repo, you can see that it says.
slimhtml is now part of Org, included in GNU Emacs, future bug reports or contributions should be sent to Org directly.
You may read this mail thread. ox-slimhtml was never included into the official org-mode. And the reason was quite silly, the org-mode guys wants the author of ox-slimhtml to work together on the original ox-html backend, and making ox-slimhtml an option.
If you really takes a look into the ox-html source code, you will be mentally damaged by the messy code and unnecessary things it does for a basic html-export.
Originally, ox-shapelesshtml depends on the ox-slimhtml package. I took some time to read and rewrite almost everything from scratch to strip off things I consider unnecessary in the ox-slimhtml backend.
ox-shapelesshtml is a lot slimer and dependency free. Well, it depends on built-in ox-html though. But at least I don’t have to depends on ox-slimhtml anymore.
Put ox-shapelesshtml.el into your load path.
