Steps to create the slack integration:

  1. Create a slack app and a slack webhook for that app: (Full Instructions)

  2. Click the Deploy to Netlify button to clone our repo to your GitHub account and automatically deploy this function to Netlify: Deploy To Netlify

  3. Enter in the SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL with the webhook you created in Step 1 when prompted during the Netlify in the deployment process. That form creates the environmental vars for you. So if you missed that step, add SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL and the url as the Key / Values in the environmental vars under deployment.

  4. Once deployed, click on the link to you newly created app. Follow the link listed, you will see an error message: { statusCode: 405, body: "Method Not Allowed" } this is normal. Copy and save the url in the browser's address bar. This is your newly minted webhook.

  5. Follow the directions below to configuring your app with the webhook you just deployed to Netlify.
