simpleMenuWizard
Hide default contextmenu items in Firefox 57 and later
This project is inspired by this post on reddit.com/r/Firefox and by this issue in the great CustomCSSforFx project.
I made it because I am missing Menu Wizard addon in Firefox 57+ like many others.
Instructions:
To remove entries from the context menu you need to
-
Find your profile folder (profile names are different for everyone):
Address bar > Enterabout:support
> ClickOpen Folder
orShift+F2
to open Firefox's command line, then enter the commandfolder openprofile
-
Download this project and unzip it.
-
Move
userChrome.css
andsimpleMenuWizard
into [...]\profile.folder\chrome\ directory. If chrome folder doesn't exist, create it. -
Open
userChrome.css
for a general overview and some options. -
Open the
simpleMenuWizard
directory and edit each .css file (except beginning withopt_
) with a texteditor to customize them to your needs.
Activate option to remove menu item: Remove/*
at the beginning of the line
Deactivate option to leave menu item: Add/*
at the beginning of the lineEach file is for another context:
blank-context.css
when right-clicking on a blank area or textframe-context.css
when right-clicking on an iframeimage-context.css
when right-clicking on an imageinput-context.css
when right-clicking on an input-fieldlink-context.css
when right-clicking on a linkmedia-context.css
when right-clicking on media like audio or html5 videoselect-context.css
when right-clicking on selected text or objectsidebar-context.css
when right-clicking on items in bookmark- or history sidebartab-context.css
when right-clicking on a tabtoolbar-context.css
when right-clicking on toolbar or tabbarurlbar-context.css
when right-clicking on the addressbar
Important notes:
- All options are disabled by default, so if you don't edit the files, nothing will happen.
- Items that appear in different contexts with same ID might disappear in several contexts when activated. This is because many menus actually share the same context and are separated here for more convenience. For specific issues ask back here, there may be workarounds.
To do
Menus not included yet:
- Left click on (main) hamburger menu (
.panel-subview-body
) - Main titlebar menus (oldschool menu opening with
alt
key) (#main-menubar
)
