EMMO in British or American English (see Metre)

Maybe trivial, but is EMMO intended to be British or American English ? E.g. the Metre is British English ?

British English has so far been the preferred spelling in EMMO. So I think we should keep "Metre" in prefLabel, but add "Meter" as an altLabel such that the class can be found using either spelling.
