I am requesting that the “Library Location” filter be moved to the top (above Subject Areas) of the Emory Subject Librarians directory/Drupal view
Requesting that the name change from “Library Location” to “Sort by Library or Service”
Requesting that the existing drop-down options for the “Sort by Library or Service” be renamed and expanded
- Woodruff Library (Main)
- Goizueta Business Library
- Woodruff Health Science Center Library
- Oxford College Library
- Rose Library
- Scholarly Communications Services
- Research Data Services
Note: The reason for this drop-down request is that there are several subject librarians not sortable/filterable in the current set-up
Finally, I am requesting (if possible) that each of the filter options for the “Sort by Library or Service” section have their own URL

Describe alternatives you've considered
- We had considered a landing page idea like we did for Research Guides, https://guides.libraries.emory.edu/?group_id=20355
- We had considered an additional page for Woodruff Subject Librarians (instead of a dedicated URL filter suggested above). We feel sending users to ONE page is better than creating a separate page
How will this impact users?
Moving and renaming the sort function option will decrease confusion for users, e.g. sort by subject area “Classics” – who should you contact?
@lovinscari @cwbragg is this an official request?
This ticket has overlap with the other departmental staff directory issues.
This has been vetted by the Web Content committee.
I have two additions from the web committee, after moving the “Library Location” filter to the top:
Change "Library Location" field title to "Your Library Location"
Change "Subject Areas" field title to "Subject Areas and Specializations"
It would be worth estimating this part of the request:
"...I am requesting (if possible) that each of the filter options for the “Sort by Library or Service” section have their own URL"
We may want to make that a new ticket?
maybe split this into 2 parts as far as development:
- add the taxonomy
- build out the views
need to know what the departments are, and then the person content nodes would have to be backfilled with the information individually
The workflow:
- Confirm taxonomy options (departments and libraries) with czars.
- Web team builds taxonomy.
- Czars add taxonomy to individual person pages.
- Web team builds views for the separate dept. and libraries.
Note: There is concern about creating multiple directories. more web governance discussion required.
