Experiment with larger gaussian kernels (again)

Closed this issue · 1 comments

Currently the one I'm using is 4x the size of the one in bsnes. The biggest issue I have with it is that it tends to alias a bit on some sounds (as does bsnes'), while real hardware recordings don't seem to exhibit these artifacts. They're subtle, and perhaps the post filter will take care of them, but I'd still like to see if it can be improved.

After trying this, the aliasing/ringing wasn't hardly reduced at all. It's a TINY bit of a noticeable difference, but not enough to warrant quadrupling the size of the kernel.
