For the "Tech for a Greener Future" challenge hosted by RBC in 2022-23, we developed a prototype of an app called "Plaome" to promote urban gardening. We specifically used a community-oriented approach when designing the app. Community members can use Plaome to support each other in creating community gardens as well as their own personal gardens. Urban gardens have many benefits, including carbon footprint reduction and greater food security.
In the app, users can track their plant water and nutrition levels, do knowledge transfers with other users related to gardening, make friends with like-minded people, find community gardens near them, and identify resources for creating DIY gardens at home.
