/my_flutter_app

A counter app built using Flutter and Dart. Why? Because it's good to step outside of your comfort zone and learn something new every day.

Primary LanguageDart

This app provides you with a red button and a prompt to click that button until you discover my favorite number. I used Flutter's sample counter app and modified the code with Dart syntax (which resembles JavaScript in some ways). I did so to create conditional statements and change the text as the user clicks on the red button.

To run this app, clone it to your local directory. Install Flutter and Dart, the Android SDK, and the iOS SDK. Visit https://flutter.dev/docs/get-started/install to be guided through the installation process. Afterwards, run open -a Simulator in the CLI so that you can see a simulation of a phone itself. Run flutter doctor to make sure that you are up and running. If so, then run flutter run in the CLI to see the app in action!

I made this app because I wanted to explore a mobile framework that is fast and modern. Flutter fit the bill. I also had to learn a little bit of Dart in order to modify the code appropriately. I used https://dart.dev/#try-dart to get started.

It's important to challenge yourself and not be afraid to jump into a new language or framework. If you're not learning you're not thriving. Have fun with this code and take it anywhere you'd like! Happy coding!
