KodeSnip empowers developers to effortlessly create and share code snippets, and this backend is the backbone of it all!

Built with Node.js, Express, and Mongoose, this robust backend seamlessly manages user data and code snippets within the secure embrace of MongoDB.

Technologies

Environment Variables

• USERNAME: MongoDB username
• PASSWORD: MongoDB password
• SECRET: JWT secret key
• PORT: Server port (default: 5000)
• ORIGIN: Allowed origin for CORS requests (e.g., "http://localhost:3000")

Setup

1. Clone the repository:

git clone <url-to-your-repo> kodesnip-backend
cd kodesnip-backend

2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Create a .env file in the root directory and add your environment variables:

USERNAME=<your_mongodb_username>
PASSWORD=<your_mongodb_password>
SECRET=<your_jwt_secret>
PORT=<your_desired_port>
ORIGIN=<your_allowed_origin>

4. Start the server:

npm start

5. The server will start on the specified port (default: 5000).
