docker-bitcoind (regtest)

A Docker configuration with defaults for running regtest (simulation) Bitcoin node, based on Alpine Linux.

Quick start

Requires that Docker be installed on the host machine.

Run a simulation (regtest) bitcoin node using Bitcoin Core daemon (bitcoind)

$ docker run --name bitcoind -d \
    --volume $HOME/bitcoin_data:/root/.bitcoin \
    -p 127.0.0.1:18443:18443 \
    farukter/bitcoind:regtest

Send rpc commands

$ curl --user myuser:VsxGlcsYJI2DWve5TF5zqr3hIGX1htxdOHO8d1yA2jY= \
    --data-binary '{"jsonrpc":"1.0","id":"curltext","method":"getblockchaininfo","params":[]}' \

or build manually & configure bitcoind

$ git clone https://github.com/farukterzioglu/docker-bitcoind.git
$ cd docker-bitcoind
$ docker build -t bitcoind --build-arg VERSION=0.21.0 .

# Create some directory where your bitcoin data will be stored.
$ mkdir $HOME/bitcoin_data
$ cp ./bitcoin.conf $HOME/bitcoin_data
# Edit bitcoin.conf if required
$ nano $HOME/bitcoin_data/bitcoin.conf 

$ docker run --rm --name bitcoind \
    --volume $HOME/.bitcoin-regtest-0.21.0:/root/.bitcoin \
    -p 127.0.0.1:18443:18443 \
    bitcoind

$ docker logs -f bitcoind

Create Rpc password

sudo wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/master/share/rpcauth/rpcauth.py -O /usr/local/bin/rpcauth.py  
sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/rpcauth.py  
rpcauth.py myuser

String to be appended to bitcoin.conf:
rpcauth=myuser:8594d179cf22645aacf9189bdc59f7cb$1f8e28a0379455afd9906ddde2f42f2a59760e8395088e8d2fdb0a3dd9c8a832
