A smorgasbord of Ansible bits and pieces to help run RHPDS based workshops
It's quick, it's dirty and it's a hack. But it might get you out of a hole when running a workshop!
Sometimes the RHPDS provisioning 'works' but actually nodes are unreachable or misconfigured. It's rare but it happens.
Use this to run some simple sanity checks against the provisioned labs.
IT CURRENTLY ONLY SUPPORTS THE RHEL or NETWORKING (multi vendor) WORKSHOP TYPE
This will do things like ssh to the control nodes, check the Tower API for various settings.
In order to run, clone this repo and change a few values in extra_vars:
git clone https://github.com/ffirg/workshop_checks.git
cd workshop_checks
vi extra_vars
After that, just run:
ansible-playbook checkenvs.yml -e @extra_vars
This will create the inventory hosts file for you and run the checks. Anything that comes back failed is a problem!
Very occasionally, rhel workshops fail to import inventory I've noticed. You won't notice this until the student reaches the tower exercises :(
If you want to try to fix misconfigured tower config, then:
- add the 'failed' hosts into the [fix_tower_hosts] group of the hosts file
- run the playbook
ansible-playbook fix_tower_config.yml -e @extra_vars
You should just be left with 'unreachable' hosts which alas I cannot fix! (Make sure you don't try to use these in the workshops)
