When running the integration, the system 'hangs'

After installation of NHC2, running the integration never comes to an and, nor the niko API key is requested

I've also had this happen some times. I think it's home assistant installing dependencies (not sure) but when I tried again a bit later, it worked without issue.

Re-installed already twice, allos tested on another installation, but with the same result I think you run on a rasberrypi, My installation is on a HASS.io that runs in docker on a synology NAS. Any hint to debug, or find the rootcause. I also run on hass.io, it does however take some time before it works.
The first time I let the spinner go for some time, then refreshes en retried, en it worked.
I think you are not the only one using NHC2 like that (hass.io on synology), but not sure.
We have a slack group were you can ask this...

I got it working. Just ad the configuration (host, username,pasword) to the configuration.yaml file. And restart HA
For me it worked
