You can modify the message by using dconf. as follows:
# change the message to "Warning"
dconf write /org/gnome/shell/extensions/short-memo/message '"Warning"'
# change the message to "(つ´∀`)つ"
dconf write /org/gnome/shell/extensions/short-memo/message '"(つ´∀`)つ"'
You can also use a shell script to edit the message.
Copy the add_note.sh file to any folder of your choice. e.g., $HOME/bin/
# add it to PATH
export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin/
# make the script executable
chmox +x $HOME/bin/add_note.sh
# run from anywhere to add notes
add_note.sh "Enter the memo or note here"
