Atmega1284p, Sanguino-0023r4, arduino-0023 result in avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Use Sanguino-0023r4 and arduino-0023 software to upload via USB to Atmega1284p
What is the expected output? Done Uploading
What do you see instead? avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
Version of the product? Sanguino-0023r4
Operating system? Win7
I was able to make it upload by switching the hardware/sanguino folder to
Version Sanguino-0023r3
