Can't Attach: ldm_validate_partition_table(): Disk read failed

I'm wondering if you have any suggestions. I think it is unlikely that this is related to my use of WD-Passport-Unlock-Linux, and unfortunately I forgot the exact series of events. At one point I unlocked the drive (removed the password), got it working in Linux, and probably had it mounted / unmounted a few times. Now if I plug it in I get:

Any idea if this could be caused by misuse of your tool? Or any ideas for recovery? The only idea I have is to replace the board on the HDD (with the same exact model) as typical in HDD recovery.
