En ocasiones anteriores Vale Exploration Perú S.A.C ha implementado de manera exitosa modelos de inteligencia artificial (IA) en sus procesos para identificar sistemas con alteraciones hidrotermales ubicados en yacimientos tipo pórfidos. En particular, ha aplicado metodologías de aprendizaje automático (ML - Machine Learning) tales como Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) para la diferenciación (segmentación en la terminología de ML) de los dominios magnéticos en función a los vectores de remanencia magnética o MVI (Magnetic Vector Inversion). Esta metodología se encuentra disponible en el software Oasis Montaj de Geosoft y ha sido aplicada en diferentes ocasiones, sin embargo, la implementación del algoritmo en dicho software está limitada a solo 5 canales/ atributos de entrada y no produce información relevante al análisis de las clases/ poblaciones detectadas.
