My Cool NixOS Configuration

Basic tools:

  • Doom Emacs
  • DWM
  • Alacritty
  • Rofi

Setup steps

  1. Copy configuration.nix to /etc/nixos/configuration.nix
  2. Install Home Manager
  3. Move nixpkgs to ~/.config/nixpkgs
  4. Channel setup: a) NixOS Channel: sudo nix-channel --add https://channels.nixos.org/nixos-unstable/ nixos b) HM Channel: nix-channel --add https://github.com/nix-community/home-manager/archive/master.tar.gz home-manager c) NixPkgs Unstable Channel: nix-channel --add https://nixos.org/channels/nixpkgs-unstable nixpkgs-unstable d) Update them! sudo nix-channel --update and nix-channel --update
  5. Run sudo nixos-rebuild switch and home-manager switch
  6. Clone doom-emacs to ~/.emacs.d and run ~/.doom.d/bin/doom install
