Relabels default categories as “languages” and makes them available on pages.
This plugin is a hack. It requires that you set up your categories in WordPress as languages, i.e.:
- English (slug:
en) - Deutsch (slug:
de)
It then
- relabels categories as languages (props @janfabry!)
- makes them available on pages
- when the current category is
de:- sets locale to de_DE
- reloads the default textdomain in the front-end
In order to reload your theme’s textdomain “on the fly” as well, you would currently need to hook your call of load_theme_textdomain to the glckPress_bilingual_categories__reload_textdomain hook. Try putting something like this in your theme’s functions.php:

- There might occur a performance load if you try to add more than 1 secondary language (primary=English) and then switch from one secondary language to the other.
