2. Usage

Test parse-numeric in your Web browser on RunKit .

Pass any String of valid JavaScript Number notation to return either an integer or floating point Number.

1. Floating point numbers:

   parseNumeric("12.3");
   // 12.3 => 12.3

2. Integers:

   parseNumeric("123");
   // 123 => 123

3. Binary numbers:

   parseNumeric("0b11");
   // 0b11 => 3

4. Octal numbers:

   parseNumeric("0o11");
   // 0o11 => 9

5. Hexidecimal numbers:

   parseNumeric("0x11");
   // 0x11 => 17

6. Exponential notation:

   parseNumeric("123e-1");
   // 123e-1 => 12.3

If the parameter cannot convert to a Number, parseNumeric returns the original value.

parseNumeric("Rainbows");
// => Rainbows

parseNumeric("");
// => ''

parseNumeric(null);
// => null

parseNumeric(undefined);
// => undefined

A function that will return either a Number or the original value.

A convenience function that evaluates whether a value could be numeric.
