Track "Points" layer

It may be helpful if the plugin could also deal with the "Point" layer.
Maybe we can create a new widget for that, or instead extend the original widget.

Yes, that seems the way to go. I guess we need to refactor the other widget and extract common / reusable utility functions.

In #1 we need to do the same refactoring
