Learning to use and playing with tensorflow

Setup on Mac OS X

1. Create a Python virtualenv and activate it

   virtualenv --distribute --no-site-packages venv
   source venv/bin/activate
   

2. Install TensorFlow

   pip install --upgrade six
   pip install --upgrade https://storage.googleapis.com/tensorflow/mac/tensorflow-0.8.0-py2-none-any.whl
   

3. Configure it to use all cores

   NUM_CORES = 8
   
   sess = tf.Session(
       config=tf.ConfigProto(
           inter_op_parallelism_threads=NUM_CORES,
           intra_op_parallelism_threads=NUM_CORES
       )
   )
   

4. Test the installation

   python -m tensorflow.models.image.mnist.convolutional
