with the recent changes applied, it would be good to have an updated version in the pip database.

Fully agreed! I've updated the setup.py and friends for this for release.

@honzakral: can you release this version on pypi, perhaps after a final checkup and changelog update?

@vdboor sure, I can do that, or just send me your pypi username and I will add you as maintainer, you are doing most of the work anyway nowadays

Thanks :) I will publish a new release to pypi soon. I'm currently working on a project, where I'll integrate threadedcomments to see whether I've missed anything. Given my current planning, you can expect a release over 2 weeks!
