Phylometrics
R package 'Phylometrics' that helps users evaluate how much information on macroevolutionary mechanisms we can get from patterns of trait distribution on phylogenies. The package has three major uses: 1) simulating phylogenies under trait state-dependent speciation and extinction model, with a fixed number of tips with a given trait state and a fixed sampling fraction of taxa with each trait state; 2) estimating the statistical errors of phylogenetic metrics, which summarizes patterns of trait distribution on phylogenies, to uncover the macroevolutionary mechanisms; 3) assessing model inadequacy in methods that have been widely used to test hypotheses about trait state-dependent diversification processes.
