MapLayers makes it easy to integrate a dynamic map in a Rails application. It can display map tiles and markers loaded from many different data sources.

Some things you have to take care of in Rails 3:

  • Make the plugin values unescaped by adding “raw”

<%= raw(map_layers_includes :yahoo => “euzuro-openlayers”) %> <%= raw(@map.to_html) %>

  • JsExpr needs a function “to_str”

def to_str

@variable

end

  • Some APIs don’t work any more i.e. Google’s.
