Getting Started

Prerequisites

Before running the Gemini Chat-Bot, ensure you have the following installed:

  • Python
  • Flask
  • Required Python libraries (install using pip install -r requirements.txt)
  • Gemini API key (available from the Maker Suite Google)

Installation

  1. Clone the repository from GitHub:

    git clone https://github.com/lokendarjangid/gemini-chat.git
    
  2. Navigate to the project directory:

    cd gemini-chat
  3. Set up the virtual environment (optional but recommended):

    python -m venv venv
    source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows, use `venv\Scripts\activate`
  4. Install dependencies:

    pip install -r requirements.txt
  5. Install Google Cloud CLI:

    Google Cloud CLI is required to run the Gemini Chat-Bot.

  6. Configure the Gemini API key:

    Copy the API key from the Make Suite Google and set it as an environment variable:

    replace the name of .env.example to .env and paste the API key in the .env file

  7. Run the application:

    python app.py

Visit http://127.0.0.1:5000 in your web browser to access the Gemini Chat-Bot.
