This is a standalone web app, that can be used to generate CVs. It has a simple user interface where users can insert information, and download the generated CV in PDF or PNG formats. This tool also saves all the CVs into a database and assigns permanent links to them, so that they can be updated later.
This tool can generate a CV that looks like the following. In both PDF or PNG formats.
To run, you need Python 3 and Postgresql.
To create a default database for development, do
$ sudo -u postgres psql
postgres=# create database cvgenerator;
postgres=# create user cvgenerator;
postgres=# grant all privileges on database cvgenerator to cvgenerator;
To install requirements, build, and start up, do
$ virtualenv virtualenv
$ source virtualenv/bin/activate
$ pip install -r requirements.txt
$ npm install
$ npm run build-js
$ npm run build-sass
$ python main.py
And open http://localhost:8080 in a browser. It should look like this:
Note: you need to add copies of some Sharp Sans fonts under fonts/
to use with Docker or have them installed in your system font storage for usage locally. For copyright reasons the fonts are not included.
To run in Docker, install Docker with Docker Compose and run
$ docker-compose up
Then check the output of docker-compose port futucv 8000
to see what external port was allocated. Run docker-compose build
to rebuild after making changes.
