Ping Pong ranking using Elo Algorithm

Ping Pong ranking using Elo Algorithm

At Diacode, we play ping pong every day (using the same table that we use for our meetings) and we play hard, so we decided to make a ranking with our scores.

We were wondering which would be the more reliable way to find who was the best player. After a few Google search we found the Elo Rating System, which is often used on Chess tournaments and seems to be pretty fair.

Then we found the Elo gem made by Iain Hecker. This gem is perfect, but it doesn’t save players and games to the database. So instead using this gem directly, we took the code and we modified it to transform Game and Player to normal Rails models with ActiveRecord.
