python -m SimpleHTTPServer 1337

Fire up a web browser and navigate to localhost:1337

If you don't have Python and SimpleHTTPServer installed, go figure out how to run your own local web server...

Prerequisites

• Geospatial Data Abstraction Library
  • brew install gdal if you're on a Mac and have homebrew installed
• TopoJSON
  • npm install -g topojson (make sure you have Node and NPM installed)

Generating the dataset from Natural Earth data.

Download the datasets from Natural Earth

• States and Provinces Dataset
• Populated Places Dataset

Compile the dataset for the US (the ne_10m_admin_1_states_provinces dataset includes data for each US state)
